OSOGBO – Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has ordered a full investigation into the recent tragic incident in Akinlalu, where several individuals reportedly lost their lives following an encounter involving the Amotekun security outfit.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed profound shock at the deaths and extended his condolences to the families of the victims, praying for comfort and strength in this difficult time.
Following preliminary reports from his Special Adviser on Security Matters, the Governor has scheduled a State Security Council meeting for Monday to deliberate further on the incident and other emerging security threats across the state.
Governor Adeleke has also directed the deployment of a high-powered government delegation to Akinlalu after the council meeting. The delegation is expected to include the Special Adviser on Security Matters, the Commissioners for Information, Political Affairs, and Transportation, the Attorney General, the Special Adviser on Legal Matters, and service chiefs of various security agencies.
“I am a rule of law Governor. This matter is being investigated and any infraction will be dealt with within the context of the law. I have ordered a security council meeting on this incident and others such as fears of spillover from Kwara banditry attacks. I urge the good people of Akinlalu to keep calm as our government acts on the matter,” the Governor stated.
The administration emphasized that the investigation will be thorough and transparent, ensuring accountability while maintaining peace and stability in the state.
