The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (JTF NE OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has reaffirmed that training is the foundation of military professionalism.
He made the remark during the graduation ceremony of the Instructors' Development Course Batch 3/2025, conducted in partnership with the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT), at the Theatre Training School, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
General Abdulsalam emphasised that equipping personnel with the right skills, knowledge, and mindset is essential for operational success and upholding military standards. He noted that the Instructors’ Development Course was conceived to strengthen in-theatre training by drawing lessons from ongoing and past operations.
“With the complex security challenges in the North East, the contributions of these graduates will directly impact the operational success of OPHK and the broader stability of the nation,” he stated, urging participants to apply their new expertise to counter emerging threats.
The Theatre Commander commended Sector and Component Commanders, the BMATT team, and the Theatre Training Officer, Brigadier General Julius Ogbobe, for their unwavering support in building counter-terrorism capacity.
In his remarks, the UK Defence Adviser to Nigeria, Brigadier General Tom Harper, highlighted the importance of modules such as counter-IED drills, effective patrols, and medical response training, noting that BMATT remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The six-week course concluded with the presentation of certificates and awards, followed by a group photograph of the graduates, instructors, and dignitaries.
