
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, yesterday received the management team of Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company Ltd at Government House, Yenagoa, during a courtesy visit.
Governor Diri emphasized the importance of including the state as a partner in the project, expressing concern over the exclusion of states in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), which he described as undermining the provisions of the 1999 Constitution. He assured the company of the government’s full support to ensure the project is executed successfully within its planned timeline. The Governor also thanked President Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the continuity of the project.
Chief Ben Okoye, Managing Director of Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company Ltd, Bayelsa State, presented updates on the project’s progress, assuring that the facility is on track to commence operations between October and December this year.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, alongside other top state officials and company representatives.
