The administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has continued to record remarkable strides in youth and women empowerment through the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), a structure established to advance the state’s entrepreneurship development drive.
The journey began in 2019 with the creation of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, signaling the government’s deliberate resolve to prioritize self-reliance and skills acquisition. To consolidate this vision, PAWECA was established and has since become a beacon of life-changing interventions across Adamawa.
Among its flagship initiatives is the Fintiri Business Wallet, launched on March 14, 2024, to directly support small-scale entrepreneurs. At its unveiling, 10,000 business owners received ₦50,000 each to strengthen and expand their ventures, sparking renewed economic activity at the grassroots.
Since then, the program has grown remarkably, with ₦6 billion disbursed to 120,000 beneficiaries, giving thousands of households fresh opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. Encouraged by this success, the state government is preparing to empower another 100,000 beneficiaries in the next phase of the initiative.
This intervention has not only reduced poverty levels but also strengthened inclusiveness by unlocking the creative and productive capacities of Adamawa’s youth and women. The Fintiri Business Wallet today stands as a model for direct empowerment and a testament to visionary leadership dedicated to wealth creation, job opportunities, and a more prosperous future for the state.
