The Anambra State Police Command has heightened patrols and surveillance following credible intelligence of a planned cult rivalry clash, particularly within Awka and its environs.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS), Enugwu-Ukwu, have been deployed to forestall any breakdown of law and order, while additional proactive measures are being coordinated to strengthen public safety.

Beyond operational steps, the Command has activated non-kinetic approaches in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Anti-Cultism and the State Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV). This joint strategy is designed to address cult-related threats through both enforcement and preventive sensitization.

Reassuring residents, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, emphasized the Command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security threat. He appealed to parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against involvement in cultism, while also encouraging the public to report suspicious gatherings or movements to the Police for immediate action.
