Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to healthcare development with a ₦10 million contribution toward the acquisition and revitalisation of Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State.
The facility, currently being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, is set for a major transformation under the Diocese’s ambitious plans. Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, Chairman of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, conducted Obi around the expansive hospital complex, outlining a vision to develop it into a comprehensive health centre featuring a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.
Speaking on the initiative, Obi emphasized that healthcare remains one of the most meaningful investments for the nation’s future, adding that faith-based organisations have consistently proven capable of delivering quality services when given the necessary support.
“Together, we can build a healthier Nigeria,” he remarked, while commending the Diocese’s vision for excellence in healthcare and training.
After his hospital visit, Obi proceeded to Owerri to attend a dinner hosted by Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
Meanwhile, Obi disclosed that he had earlier experienced health challenges during his engagement in Enugu. After receiving medical attention and medication, he was advised by his doctor to take one or two days of rest. Consequently, he announced he would not be able to meet all scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend, apologizing for any inconveniences caused and appealing for understanding.
