
In a sustained effort to tackle banditry and restore peace in troubled communities across Kogi State, troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have made significant progress in the ongoing Operation EGWUA A TITE II, which commenced on 1 September 2025.
During the operation, troops of 126 Battalion, under the leadership of the Commanding Officer and in coordination with Other Hybrid Forces (OHF), engaged bandits along the Tunga general area, neutralizing two armed criminals during a fierce exchange of gunfire.
To further boost morale and operational effectiveness, the Commander of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Accord III, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, led troops along key axes, destroying several bandits’ settlements and dominating the area through targeted patrols and ambushes.
On 2 September 2025, acting on credible intelligence and with close air support from the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group, troops launched an air combat mission to Ankomi, engaging fleeing bandits and neutralizing scores in a decisive show of force.
The operation continued on 3 September 2025, as 126 Battalion troops conducted clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities. During the missions, Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children were rescued and safely reunited with their family. Additionally, five locally made firearms were recovered.
Notably, on 5 September 2025, troops engaged in a fierce battle at a bandits’ hideout ahead of Tunga, resulting in the neutralization of Kachalla Bala, a notorious bandit commander, along with five accomplices. The same day, an ambush along the Agbede–Adankoo Bridge (Mosalanci Boka) route led to the neutralization of a bandit logistics courier, with items recovered including one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have reiterated their commitment to eradicating banditry, criminality, and other security threats in Kogi State and adjoining areas. Operation EGWUA A TITE II continues to deliver positive results, underscoring the army’s resolve to restore peace and stability in the region.
