Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing remodelling and expansion of IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, highlighting the project as a major step towards improving healthcare delivery in the state.

During an inspection of the hospital, Governor Bago commended the contractors for their exemplary work and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamping the health sector, ensuring that citizens have access to quality healthcare services.

Earlier, the governor had declared a state of emergency in the health sector, initiating extensive renovations, reconstructions, and remodelling of health institutions across Niger State.

The ongoing remodelling of IBB Specialist Hospital has seen the Emergency/Accident Unit, General Outpatients Department, Intensive Care Unit, Doctors’ Call Rooms/Nurses’ Stations, and VIP Units fully renovated and equipped with modern medical facilities. The project has also introduced a multispecialty clinic patients’ waiting area, three additional doctors’ consulting rooms, and the conversion and expansion of the ENT unit into an intensive care unit.

The emergency unit and VIP wards have been upgraded, alongside the construction of two semi-detached 2-bedroom doctors’ quarters, a 42,000-litre overhead water tank, and reactivation of an additional motorized borehole. Equipment upgrades include an Elizer machine for blood screening as recommended by the Nigerian National Blood Services, a new 100 KV generator for the NNPC multipurpose diagnostic center, and a 300 KVA transformer, among other medical machines.

Governor Bago’s inspection underscores the administration’s determination to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve medical services for the people of Niger State.
