The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) held its Fair in Kano yesterday, September 16, 2025, bringing together stakeholders, business owners, and members of the public to discuss policies aimed at fostering financial inclusion and economic growth. The event was themed “Driving Alternative Payment Channels as Tools for Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development.”

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of the CBN Corporate Communications Department, highlighted the Bank’s achievements in exchange rate unification, bank recapitalization, and the launch of the Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028. She also underscored the positive outcomes of these reforms, including increased foreign investment, improved trade balances, and enhanced consumer protection through initiatives such as the Unified Complaints Tracking System and USSD code verification.

The Fair offered participants insights on critical topics including complaints management, customer rights and responsibilities, FinTech security, and other key issues affecting the financial sector. Observers note that such engagements play a vital role in bridging the gap between regulators and the public, while promoting transparency, trust, and adoption of modern payment systems across the country.

The CBN Fair will continue in Kaduna tomorrow, September 18, 2025, as part of the Bank’s ongoing efforts to advance financial literacy and inclusion nationwide.
