The Lagos State Government has appointed popular content creator Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, widely known as Mandykiss, as the new Ambassador of LASKADA (Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse). The announcement was made today by Lagos State officials, highlighting the government’s commitment to youth engagement and drug abuse prevention.
According to Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Mandykiss had initially planned an attempt to break a Guinness World Record. However, the initiative did not align with societal values and the objectives of youth development programs in the state.
“A society thrives when it listens, engages, and redirects its future with compassion and purpose,” Ogunlende stated, explaining the rationale behind the government’s decision to involve Mandykiss in public service initiatives.
Through a series of discussions between Mandykiss and state officials, alternative activities were proposed that would allow her to leverage her popularity for the greater good. The engagement focused on promoting healthier and constructive initiatives, emphasizing mental health awareness and overall youth wellness.
“Our conversations explored ways to channel Mandykiss’ influence into initiatives that promote mental health, wellness, and a drug-free lifestyle among the youth. This approach ensures that her platform has a positive impact on young people across Lagos,” Ogunlende added.
As the newly appointed Ambassador of LASKADA, Mandykiss is expected to play an active role in public campaigns aimed at preventing drug abuse, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and educating young people about the risks associated with substance misuse. The role also includes participation in community outreach programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns coordinated by the Lagos State Government.
The appointment reflects a growing trend of leveraging social media influencers and public figures to engage youth in meaningful societal initiatives. By partnering with Mandykiss, Lagos State hopes to strengthen its ongoing drug abuse prevention programs and foster a culture of positive decision-making among young residents.
Mandykiss’ collaboration with LASKADA is part of a broader strategy by Lagos State to address drug abuse proactively while promoting mental health, wellness, and civic responsibility among the youth. The partnership aims to ensure that young people have access to supportive networks and educational resources that guide them toward productive and healthy lifestyles.
The Lagos State Government continues to emphasize that engaging influencers in public campaigns provides a unique opportunity to reach young people in creative and impactful ways, ensuring that awareness efforts are both relatable and far-reaching.
