Abuja is preparing to make aviation history as the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) teams up with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development to stage Nigeria’s first international airshow — an event expected to draw major global players in the aviation and aerospace sectors.
During a courtesy visit to his office, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike assured the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and his delegation that the FCTA would give its full backing to the project. Wike described the airshow as a landmark opportunity to project Nigeria’s capital city as a modern, globally connected destination for business and tourism.
The Minister said arrangements were underway to ensure visitors and exhibitors enjoy a seamless experience throughout the event. He pledged that the city’s transport network, including its train service and CNG-powered buses, would be available to move guests and participants across the capital. Wike also promised media support and publicity from FCTA-owned platforms to raise awareness ahead of the December 2025 event.
He confirmed that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre would serve as the main venue, noting that while the FCTA would make concessions on facility charges to encourage the event’s success, advertising across the city would still follow official regulations under the Outdoor Advertising and Signage Department.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Wike emphasized that Abuja was prepared to meet international expectations. “We’ll make sure everything runs smoothly; this event must show the world that the capital city is ready for global standards,” he remarked.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo highlighted that the airshow would coincide with Nigeria’s 100th year of aviation, making it not only a showcase of technology and partnerships but also a celebration of history. He revealed that the program is being organized in collaboration with a private partner and enjoys support from the Nigerian Air Force.
According to Keyamo, the airshow will feature aircraft displays, exhibitions, and business meetings, bringing together aviation manufacturers, investors, and professionals from around the world.
The international gathering is expected to enhance Nigeria’s image in the global aviation community and open new avenues for investment in the country’s growing aerospace industry.
With Abuja set to host the historic event, expectations are high that the airshow will place Nigeria firmly on the global aviation calendar, alongside major events held in cities like Paris and Dubai.
