The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has extended warm congratulations to Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on his appointment as the new Chief of Air Staff (CAS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Before his appointment, Air Vice Marshal Aneke served as the Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command, Yenagoa, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and professionalism.

In a statement signed by the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. (Mrs.) Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, Governor Diri described Aneke as “a fine gentleman and a thoroughbred officer” whose expertise will greatly enhance the nation’s security framework and peace-building efforts.

The statement quoted Governor Diri as saying:

“Our hearty congratulations to Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on his well-deserved elevation as the Chief of Air Staff. As a fine, thoroughbred gentleman officer, we are confident that he will add value to the security architecture and the renewed effort at promoting peace and national security.”

Governor Diri also commended President Tinubu for what he described as a commendable and well-considered appointment, noting that the new Chief of Air Staff represents “a round peg in a round hole” in Nigeria’s security leadership structure.

The Bayelsa leader expressed optimism that the new Air Force chief would continue to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in the discharge of his national duties.
