The Federal Government has pledged to prevent future strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other labour unions affecting the education sector.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining industrial harmony in universities and ensuring that academic activities proceed without disruption.

“We are dedicated to preventing disruptions in academic activities caused by strikes and ensuring that Nigerians have uninterrupted access to quality education,” Dr. Alausa stated.

The government’s assurance comes amid ongoing concerns over the recurrent strikes in the higher education sector, which have historically disrupted academic calendars and affected students nationwide.

Authorities have emphasized that proactive engagement with labour unions and timely resolution of disputes will be central to achieving lasting stability in Nigeria’s education system.
