The Federal Ministry of Health has taken a decisive step to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of healthcare resources by engaging the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to monitor the utilisation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) across Nigeria.

The Ministry’s announcement highlights its commitment to strengthening governance in the healthcare sector and ensuring that funds earmarked for improving primary healthcare services reach their intended beneficiaries. The collaboration with ICPC aims to track fund deployment, prevent mismanagement, and safeguard public resources.

Officials stressed that the partnership will focus on real-time monitoring and auditing, enabling swift identification and rectification of discrepancies in fund utilisation at both federal and state levels.

The move comes amid growing public demand for accountability in the management of healthcare financing, especially in light of efforts to expand access to primary healthcare services and improve overall health outcomes nationwide.

The Ministry urged all stakeholders, including state health agencies and healthcare providers, to cooperate fully with ICPC to ensure the effective and transparent use of the BHCPF.
