The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched a large-scale cleanup operation targeting criminal hotspots across Abuja in a renewed effort to safeguard lives and property.
The operation, which commenced this week, is expected to run from November 2025 through January 2026, focusing on areas identified as hideouts for bandits, robbers, and other violent offenders.
Commissioner of Police Miller G. Dantawaye, who announced the initiative, said the exercise would involve all tactical and surveillance teams under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and the Department of Operations, working in close coordination with divisional police formations.
He stressed that the security drive is aimed at restoring public confidence and maintaining order in the Federal Capital Territory, urging officers to remain disciplined and professional throughout the operation.
“The safety and wellbeing of Abuja residents is our utmost priority,” Dantawaye said. “We are determined to rid the city of criminal elements and ensure peace in every community. Any form of misconduct from officers will not be tolerated.”
The Police Command also called on residents to cooperate with security operatives by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities within their neighborhoods.
