The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on students across Nigeria to uphold integrity, reject cybercrime, and embrace hard work as the true foundation for a successful future.
Olukoyede made the appeal on Thursday, October 30, 2025, when students from Voyage International School, Abuja, visited the EFCC Headquarters on an educational tour.
Represented by the Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE II) Aisha Mohammed, the EFCC Chairman emphasized the critical role of young people in shaping a corruption-free Nigeria.
“Stay away from cybercrimes and other social menaces. Our society is battling cybercrime, drug abuse, and many other vices involving young people,” she said. “Be ambassadors of the EFCC, because you are the future of Nigeria. Say no to corruption, say no to cybercrime, say no to stealing — do the right thing even when no one is watching.”
She encouraged the students to be good representatives of their families, schools, and communities, stressing that integrity begins with small choices and grows through consistent honesty and responsibility.
Also speaking, Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC (DSE) Olalekan Ogunjobi of the Cybercrime Section addressed the impact of cybercrime on individuals and society. He noted that social pressure to meet expectations often drives youths into internet fraud, warning that while victims suffer financial loss and emotional pain, perpetrators end up losing their freedom, dignity, and future.
Ogunjobi urged young people to resist peer pressure and instead build their lives on hard work, self-discipline, and ethical behaviour, stressing that these values are the surest path to lasting success.
“Think critically before you act online,” he advised. “Let your digital behaviour reflect responsibility and help create a safer, more ethical online environment.”
At the close of the visit, the students were inducted into the EFCC’s Integrity Club, a platform designed to instill moral discipline, promote ethical leadership, and build a new generation of anti-corruption advocates among Nigerian youth.
