In a surprising turn of events, Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate George Moghalu was defeated in his own polling unit by the incumbent Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the ongoing Anambra State governorship election.
According to results announced late Saturday, APGA polled 57 votes, while Labour Party secured 22 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) came third with 5 votes.
The result has generated widespread discussion among political observers, who interpret it as a sign of Governor Soludo’s sustained grassroots dominance and the mounting challenges facing opposition parties in their bid to unseat the incumbent.
Moghalu, a prominent political figure and former national leader known for his administrative expertise, has yet to issue a statement regarding the outcome from his polling unit.
As collation continues across the state, analysts suggest that local dynamics and performance perception may play a decisive role in determining the final result of the election.
