Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been re-elected as the governor of Anambra State, extending his tenure until 2030 following a sweeping victory across all 21 local government areas of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Soludo the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election at its state headquarters in Awka. The Returning Officer, Professor Omoregie Edoba, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced, “I hereby declare that Soludo Chukwuma Charles of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

According to the results, Soludo garnered a commanding 422,664 votes, leaving his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with 99,445 votes. Other contenders trailed far behind, with Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party securing 37,753 votes, George Moghalu of the Labour Party 10,576 votes, John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress 8,208 votes, and Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party 1,401 votes.

Observers described the election as largely peaceful, noting that Soludo’s decisive win reflects his continued grassroots support and widespread approval of his administration’s performance. Analysts also say the results underline APGA’s dominance in the state and present a significant challenge for opposition parties in future contests.

The victory marks a historic moment in Anambra’s political landscape, reinforcing Soludo’s position as a leading figure in the state’s governance and signaling continuity in policy and development programs over the next five years.
