Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called for Senator Prince Ned Nwoko of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be declared a Person of Particular Concern (PPC), accusing the lawmaker of serial abuse of power, corruption, and gross human rights violations.
In a strongly worded statement, Sowore alleged that Senator Nwoko has weaponised the Nigeria Police Force to unlawfully detain and intimidate citizens, while also manipulating state institutions for personal vendettas. He claimed that the senator has preyed on vulnerable individuals, violating the moral and legal standards expected of a public official.
Sowore warned that no democracy can survive when powerful individuals act with impunity, arguing that Nwoko’s alleged actions represent a broader threat to Nigeria’s democratic integrity.
“Crooked All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Prince Ned Nwoko must immediately be declared a Person of Particular Concern (PPC) for his serial abuse of power, corruption, and grave human rights violations,” Sowore stated.
He further said, “From weaponizing the Nigeria Police Force to unlawfully detain and intimidate citizens, to manipulating state institutions for personal vendettas and preying on the vulnerable, Nwoko has crossed every moral and legal line expected of a public official.”
According to Sowore, declaring Nwoko a PPC would send a powerful message that influence and wealth do not place anyone above the law, adding that accountability must apply to all, regardless of political affiliation.
“No democracy can thrive when powerful individuals act with impunity,” he said, stressing that the Nigerian government, the international community, and human rights organizations must take note of the senator’s conduct.
In conclusion, Sowore described Senator Ned Nwoko as “the face of impunity that must be confronted head-on.”
He urged both local and global human rights bodies to investigate Nwoko’s alleged misconduct and take necessary action to ensure justice and fairness in governance.
Would you like me to add a background section explaining why Sowore made this statement or any response from Ned Nwoko (if available) to make it more balanced for publication?
