The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Operations Office successfully coordinated the arrival of 180 vulnerable Nigerian returnees from Libya on November 11, 2025. The returnees landed at the Cargo Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, aboard an Air Libya Airline flight with registration number 5A-BAE at approximately 1900 hours. The operation was carried out in collaboration with key partners, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Port Health Services.

The demographic breakdown of the returnees included 147 adults (45 males and 102 females), 19 children (6 males and 13 females), and 14 infants (7 males and 7 females). Upon arrival, 46 returnees with medical conditions were immediately attended to by health officials. Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure accurate profiling and facilitate smooth reintegration into Nigerian society.

In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to the safe and dignified return of citizens, the returnees received immediate humanitarian support, which included food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, luggage handling, logistics support, and counselling services. The reception exercise, jointly coordinated by NEMA, IOM, NCFRMI, and other partners, was described as seamless and well-organized, reflecting sustained government efforts to protect the welfare and dignity of Nigerians returning from crisis-affected regions abroad.

This operation follows previous returnee missions in 2025, including the reception of 144 vulnerable Nigerians from Libya on March 4, 203 returnees from Libya on April 28–29, and the evacuation of over 956 Nigerians in six separate operations between January and March 2025, highlighting the continued commitment to repatriating citizens from crisis zones.
