Police Recover Stolen Kano Government House Vehicle, Arrest Driver

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Governor’s Advance Team, which was reported missing from the Kano Government House on November 11, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, directed an immediate lockdown of all entry and exit points in the state to ensure the stolen vehicle was tracked down and those responsible apprehended.

“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, had ordered the ceiling up of all entry and exit points of the State and directed that the vehicle be recovered and those involved be arrested,” the statement read.

According to the police, after a sustained follow-up and intelligence-led operation, one Ya’u Inuwa, a 50-year-old driver working with the Government House, was arrested in connection with the theft.

“Following sustained follow up coupled with intelligence-led investigations, one Ya'u Inuwa, a 50-year-old male driver in the Government House, was arrested in connection with the theft,” the police said.

The stolen Hilux was recovered at Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, Kano, and has since been placed in police custody.

“The suspect confessed to having conspired with two other individuals, who are currently at large,” the statement added.

The police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

The Command also commended officials of the Kano Government House for promptly reporting the theft, assuring the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and justice served.

“The Police Command appreciates the prompt report made by the officials of Kano State Government House, and assures the public of its commitment to investigating and bringing perpetrators to justice.”

Police authorities said the public would be updated as investigations progress.

“Further developments will be communicated as the investigation unfolds,” the statement concluded.
