The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against insurgency after conducting a successful airstrike on a notorious Boko Haram hideout deep within the Sambisa Forest.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, targeted a well-known terrorist enclave believed to be a hub for planning attacks and coordinating movements across the region. According to military sources, the airstrike completely neutralised several Boko Haram fighters, marking a significant blow to the group’s remaining operational capacity.
Security analysts say the latest strike shows that the military continues to intensify its offensive against insurgent cells, especially in hard-to-reach areas like Sambisa, which has long served as a stronghold for extremist activities. The move is also seen as a response to recent escalations by terrorist factions in the Northeast.
While the Air Force has not yet released detailed casualty figures, officials described the strike as “decisive,” indicating substantial damage to terrorist infrastructure.
For communities across Borno and neighbouring states, the news offers renewed hope amid ongoing concerns about resurging attacks by extremist groups.
The strike forms part of the broader counterterrorism strategy to degrade Boko Haram’s influence, disrupt their operations, and restore safety across affected regions.
