An Argentine federal court has ordered the seizure of nearly $500 million in assets connected to former president Cristina Kirchner and several co-defendants convicted for corruption related to public works contracts.

The court’s ruling authorizes the confiscation of over 100 properties, including assets owned by Kirchner, her two children, and other individuals involved in the case. The move comes as part of Argentina’s ongoing efforts to recover funds allegedly misappropriated through corrupt government projects.

Cristina Kirchner, 72, remains a powerful and polarizing figure in Argentine politics. She previously served as president and, before that, as first lady from 2003 to 2007 during the tenure of her late husband, Néstor Kirchner.

The confiscation of her and her family’s assets marks one of the most significant judicial actions against a former Argentine leader in decades, highlighting the country’s determination to hold political figures accountable for corruption.

This development has intensified the spotlight on Argentina’s fight against systemic corruption and may have lasting political and legal repercussions for Kirchner and her associates.
