A fresh wave of banditry has struck Zamfara State, where a truck transporting more than 100 sacks of grain was intercepted and set ablaze along the Anka–Bagega road on Sunday evening. The vehicle, owned by local trader Alhaji Lawali Bagega, was headed for market distribution when armed men blocked its path, forced it to stop, and destroyed all the food items on board.

The attack is the latest in a troubling pattern of violence that continues to cripple farming communities across the Northwest. Farmers—already struggling to plant and harvest under threats—are now being targeted even while transporting their produce to markets.

Residents warn that the consequences go far beyond financial loss. With farmers under siege at every stage of food production, concerns are mounting over the region's agricultural future and the growing risk of food insecurity.

As bandit attacks become an almost daily reality, rural livelihoods hang in the balance, leaving many to question how long communities can continue to survive under such relentless pressure.
