In a wave of positive developments, security agencies have successfully rescued 38 abducted victims from the Eruku Church attack in Kwara State, while about 50 students kidnapped from a Catholic private school in Niger State have also regained their freedom.
The commendable efforts of security operatives and all individuals involved in the rescue operations have drawn praise from stakeholders, including Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who described the news as “refreshing and encouraging.”
Obi, however, stressed that there is no room for complacency. He urged authorities to sustain the momentum until all remaining victims are safely reunited with their families, many of whom continue to endure emotional distress.
He further called for heightened vigilance across the country, insisting that security agencies and school authorities must adopt proactive measures to prevent future attacks and frustrate the plans of criminal groups targeting vulnerable communities.
The recent incidents have once again highlighted concerns over rising insecurity and the urgent need for strengthened protection for schools and worship centres nationwide
