The Ogun State Government has announced the approval of additional road projects within the Ota axis, reaffirming its commitment to infrastructure development despite what it describes as “ongoing political blackmail” aimed at distorting facts and misleading residents.
The state government, in a statement released on Tuesday, said the new projects form part of a broader, phased plan to rehabilitate and upgrade major roads across Ogun West, particularly in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, one of the state’s key industrial hubs.
According to the statement, the administration has continued to prioritise road construction based on economic importance, traffic pressure, and public need—factors it said informed the expansion of the project list in Ota.
The government condemned what it called deliberate attempts by “certain political actors” to manipulate public opinion by spreading misinformation about the scope and pace of ongoing road works. It urged residents to disregard comments suggesting that the state was neglecting the Ota axis, describing such claims as false and politically motivated.
> “The people of Ota deserve facts, not propaganda. Our commitment to improving infrastructure in this critical economic zone is unquestionable. The approval of new road projects further demonstrates this,” the statement said.
Officials emphasised that projects already underway—including major arteries linking industrial clusters, residential areas, and interstate routes—are progressing according to schedule. The newly approved roads are expected to complement existing works and ease movement for commuters, businesses, and logistics firms operating in the area.
The government appealed to residents and stakeholders to remain patient and supportive, assuring that the administration remains focused on delivering sustainable infrastructure across all zones of the state without discrimination or political bias.
More details on the specific roads approved and timelines for commencement are expected to be announced by the Ministry of Works in the coming days.
