The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has responded to social media claims that 90 Battalion in Koko is experiencing internal conflicts, neglect of soldiers' welfare, and financial exploitation. The Army clarified that these allegations are untrue and appear to be an attempt to blackmail the command at the Battalion.
The Division emphasized that postings and deployments of soldiers are routine and carried out fairly, without favoring any religion, loyalty, or other primordial considerations. They described the claims that soldiers are assigned based on religious or loyalty reasons as false and malicious, intended to undermine the integrity of the Army.
The Army reassured the public that it operates with strict professionalism and does not tolerate corruption, abuse of welfare, religious bias, or misconduct within its ranks. The Commanding Officer of the Battalion is said to be managing his duties professionally, within the available resources.
The Army also explained that there are proper procedures for raising complaints and grievances, which are followed at the Battalion level. Any attempts by personnel to use other means to air grievances are viewed as efforts to blackmail the institution and should be ignored.
The Army promised that any actual misconduct or infractions will be thoroughly investigated. Members of the public are urged to disregard these unsubstantiated claims and are assured that reports, including those of extortion or abuse, will be taken seriously and looked into.
Finally, the Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and safety in the Niger Delta Region. The statement was issued by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, on November 26, 2025.
