The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Honourable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, urging him not to assign any of its cases to three particular judges: Hon. Justice James Omotosho, Hon. Justice Peter Odo Lifu, and Hon. Justice Abduimalik.
The party raised concerns that, over the past few years, all cases involving PDP—whether filed by the party or against it—have consistently been assigned to these same three judges in the Federal High Court, Abuja. PDP members have expressed strong dissatisfaction with this pattern, fearing it creates a perception that these judges are biased or have a special interest in the party’s matters.
In a letter signed by the party’s newly elected National Secretary, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, PDP conveyed its fears and worries that the current judicial assignment pattern may undermine public confidence in the fairness of the court proceedings. The party emphasized that its concerns are about the perception that these three judges are handling all cases involving PDP, which could be viewed as unfair or biased.
The PDP’s appeal underscores the importance of impartial justice and calls for the Chief Judge to consider distributing cases more evenly among the judges to ensure fairness and public trust in the judicial process.
