Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has called for stronger trade collaboration between African and Arab nations, emphasizing the need to shift from raw commodity exports to value-added production. Speaking in Abuja at the Agribusiness Matchmaking Forum, Edun said regional economic cooperation is becoming increasingly crucial as global markets evolve.

He highlighted projections showing that Arab–African trade could grow by over $37 billion within the next three years, provided both regions invest strategically in industrial partnerships and efficient trade mechanisms. According to the Minister, Nigeria’s expanding industrial base and upcoming National Single Window reforms will help reduce trade bottlenecks and stimulate private-sector growth.

Edun urged governments and business leaders to seize the current economic climate for mutual benefit, stating,
This is a moment to turn opportunity into action… By working together, we can build stronger value chains, create jobs and support prosperity across our regions.
