A four-day Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programme, sponsored by the Commanding Officer of 176 Guards Battalion Nigerian Army, Lt-Col Oladimeji Ajogbo, successfully concluded at General OA Azazi Barracks in Gwagwalada from November 19 to 22, 2025. The initiative aimed to provide women, particularly spouses of military personnel, with practical skills to foster self-reliance and financial independence.

Under the theme “Entrepreneurship Wisdom to Maximize Skills and Opportunities,” the training included lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on sessions focused on entrepreneurship, personal development, branding, and small-scale business management. A total of 103 women participated in the programme, learning to produce various products such as paint, yoghurt, granola, parfait, and scented candles.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of branded products “Hawk Yoghurt” and “Hawk Paints,” showcasing the tangible results of the training. Participants received starter kits and certificates upon completion, with five women also being awarded CAC business registration certificates to formalize their businesses.

The programme wrapped up with practical sessions on screeding and painting, culminating in a community project where two barracks buildings were painted using the Hawk Paints produced during the training. This initiative underscores a strong commitment by the Nigerian Army to empower military families, promote self-reliance, and contribute to community development through skills development and entrepreneurship.
