The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced administrative and medical screenings for intending pilgrims traveling to Israel and Jordan, marking a crucial step in preparations for the upcoming Holy Land journey.

The exercise, conducted in collaboration with the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) and other government agencies, aims to verify travel documents, assess pilgrims’ medical fitness, and ensure they are fully prepared for the journey. Pilgrims will also receive guidance on expectations during the trip, while medical teams are equipped with necessary medications to address potential health needs.

Board Secretary, Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, Ph.D., emphasized that “pilgrims must be medically and physically fit for the journey and adhere to the guidelines and laws of the host countries while representing Lagos State and Nigeria with integrity.”

Reverend Bukola Adeleke, Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religious Matters, expressed appreciation to pilgrims for trusting the Lagos State Government, highlighting the importance of prayer and spiritual support for Nigeria’s leadership during these challenging times.

Bishop (Prof) Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, reassured that measures are in place to prevent abscondment and guarantee the safety of Nigerian pilgrims abroad. He also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for pilgrimage initiatives, urging pilgrims to pray for the nation while in the Holy Land.

The screening underscores Lagos State’s commitment to ensuring that every pilgrim travels safely, is well-prepared, and represents the state and the country responsibly.
