YOLA — Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID) have arrested two women in connection with a suspected child trafficking case and successfully rescued three teenage girls on February 17, 2026.
The minors, identified as Naomi Linus (14 years), Agnes Thomas (16 years), and Patience Justine (15 years), were intercepted at the Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola. Preliminary investigations revealed that the girls had been deceitfully brought to Yola and were allegedly being transported to Abuja under the pretext of securing employment for menial domestic work.
The arrested suspects were identified as Hasiya Yuguda (35 years) of NEPA, Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar (40 years) of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South. A third individual, Simon Boniface (38 years) of Bitakoyali, Zing LGA, Taraba State, is reportedly assisting police in the ongoing investigation.
The rescued teenagers are currently in protective custody, and efforts are ongoing to trace and reunite them with their respective families. The Adamawa State Police Command has emphasized its commitment to combating child trafficking, exploitation, and all forms of abuse against minors.
Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on child trafficking and urged parents and guardians to exercise vigilance and verify any employment or travel arrangements involving their children. He also encouraged the public to promptly report suspicious activities involving minors to the nearest police station.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are working to identify additional individuals who may be involved and to dismantle the network responsible for the attempted trafficking.
This operation highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement in Adamawa State to protect children from exploitation and to enforce laws against trafficking and abuse. Community engagement and public cooperation are deemed critical to preventing similar cases and ensuring the safety of vulnerable minors across the state.
