Eight years after the abduction of their daughter, Leah Sharibu, her parents have renewed their appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to intensify efforts to secure her release.
Leah was among the schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi in 2018. While most of the abducted students were later freed, Leah reportedly remained in captivity after refusing to renounce her Christian faith.
Speaking during a fresh appeal, her parents expressed frustration over what they described as prolonged silence surrounding her case. They urged authorities not to abandon their daughter’s plight, stressing that eight years of waiting have brought emotional pain and deep uncertainty to the family.
They called on the government and security agencies to take decisive and coordinated steps to ensure Leah’s safe return, insisting that her case deserves the same urgency accorded to other rescued victims of abduction.
Leah Sharibu’s case has continued to attract national and international attention, with advocacy groups and religious organisations repeatedly calling for stronger action to end her captivity and prevent similar attacks on schools across Nigeria.
