The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has warned Nigerian politicians against the use of violence, ritual killings, or any form of harmful practices in their pursuit of power as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections. Speaking in Lagos, Bishop Oke condemned what he called “blood politics” and urged political actors to seek leadership through peaceful and democratic means, emphasising that no political position is worth the shedding of innocent blood. He cautioned that those who resort to violence or ritual practices in their quest for office would face serious consequences and moral judgment.

Bishop Oke encouraged politicians to engage voters with honesty and integrity, stressing that winning through intimidation or manipulation is neither moral nor sustainable. He also appealed to Nigerians, particularly young voters, to exercise their voting rights responsibly and not to sell their votes, highlighting the importance of active participation in shaping the nation’s future.

In addition, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, noting that political legitimacy must come from the will of the people. He also advocated for greater involvement of Christians and other citizens in the political process to ensure that moral values and principles influence governance at all levels.

Beyond the political warnings, Bishop Oke addressed broader national concerns, including security challenges and economic hardship. He urged the federal and state governments to invest in education, job creation, and community development as part of efforts to reduce violence and disenfranchisement. His appeal comes amid heightened political activity as parties and aspirants prepare for the 2027 elections, reflecting growing concern among civic and religious leaders about maintaining peace, unity, and the rule of law during the electoral process.
