The Nigeria Police Force in Kano State has rescued a two-year-old boy who was abducted in the state and arrested three suspects in connection with the case.
According to police authorities, the child, identified as Aliyu Muhammad, was kidnapped on April 19 in front of his family residence in Gwammaja Quarters, located in Dala Local Government Area.
Police said the abductors later contacted the family and demanded a ransom of ₦1 million, which was paid. Despite receiving the money, the suspects allegedly failed to release the child.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Bakori, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to launch an intelligence-led operation. Authorities said surveillance and technical tracking led operatives to a hideout within the same Gwammaja area where the child was being held.
The three suspects were arrested during the operation, and the toddler was rescued unharmed before being reunited with his family. Police also said ₦930,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid, was recovered from the suspects.
The Kano State Police Command said investigations are continuing.
