Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has publicly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, urging the federal government to take urgent action to protect citizens from rising violence and insecurity across parts of the country.

Kadiri’s remarks, which circulated widely on social media, came amid growing national concern over recurring incidents of kidnappings, banditry, killings, and attacks affecting several communities across Nigeria. In her emotional appeal, the actress called on the government to intensify efforts to secure lives and property, warning that many Nigerians increasingly feel unsafe in their own country.

The actress stated that ordinary Nigerians should not be left helpless in the face of insecurity, adding that citizens are becoming increasingly frustrated by the frequency of violent attacks and reports of deaths in different parts of the country. Her comments reflected broader public concerns about safety and the need for stronger protection measures.

Kadiri’s statement followed renewed public debate over insecurity after recent attacks and security incidents reported in parts of northern and central Nigeria. Security challenges including terrorism, banditry, communal clashes, and kidnappings for ransom have continued to place pressure on security agencies and government authorities.

President Tinubu has repeatedly stated that his administration remains committed to tackling insecurity through military operations, intelligence coordination, and security sector reforms. The federal government has in recent months highlighted military offensives against armed groups and the rescue of kidnap victims as part of ongoing counterterrorism and anti-banditry operations.

The comments by Kadiri also sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing concerns about personal safety and demanding stronger action from authorities. Public figures, civil society groups, and opposition politicians have in recent months continued to call for urgent reforms aimed at strengthening policing, intelligence gathering, and protection for vulnerable communities.

Nigeria has faced prolonged security challenges over the last decade, particularly in regions affected by insurgency, armed banditry, and farmer-herder conflicts. Despite ongoing military operations and security deployments, attacks on communities and abductions have continued in several states.

Analysts say public frustration has grown due to the economic and psychological impact of insecurity on daily life, business activities, and national development. Concerns over safety have also increasingly become part of wider national conversations involving governance, economic hardship, and public trust in institutions.

Kadiri, known for her contributions to Nigeria’s film industry as an actress, producer, and filmmaker, joins a growing number of public personalities who have openly spoken about insecurity and the need for stronger government intervention.

While the presidency has continued to defend its security efforts, calls for more visible and effective protection measures remain strong across different sectors of society as Nigerians seek reassurance over their safety and the country’s security direction.
