Armed bandits reportedly attacked Kwarare community in Roni Local Government Area of Jigawa State, throwing residents into panic and leaving one person injured during the late-night assault.

The incident occurred on Monday night when armed men stormed the community and opened fire, causing residents to flee into surrounding areas for safety. During the attack, a resident identified as Fahad was shot in the leg and sustained a fracture.

Local sources said the victim is currently receiving treatment at Kazaure General Hospital, where he was admitted shortly after the incident.

Roni Local Government Area, located in the northern part of Jigawa State, has in recent years experienced intermittent security incidents involving armed groups targeting rural communities and isolated settlements, particularly in areas close to forest corridors.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Jigawa State Police Command confirming the attack or providing details on the number of attackers or any arrests made.

Medical personnel at Kazaure Hospital confirmed that the injured victim is receiving care, although further updates on his condition were not immediately available.

Security agencies are expected to launch investigations into the incident as part of ongoing efforts to address rural insecurity in the state.

Residents of the affected community have called for increased security presence, particularly night patrols, to prevent further attacks in vulnerable rural areas.

The incident adds to a growing concern over sporadic bandit-related violence affecting parts of northern Nigeria, where rural communities have remained exposed to sudden armed incursions.
