A young boy who went missing during a bandit attack on his village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State has reportedly been found in Kano State after nearly three years, sparking hope among families still searching for loved ones displaced by years of violence in the North-West.

According to reports, the boy, identified as Kabiru, was discovered in Takaratsa village of Rimin Gado Local Government Area in Kano State. He told those who found him that his father’s name is Hamza and his mother’s name is Hasiya. He hails from Dan Awo village in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, and mentioned having siblings named Nura, Shafa and Farida.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and how he ended up in Kano remain unclear, but his discovery has raised hopes that other missing children may also be found alive. Bandit attacks in Katsina and other North-West states have displaced thousands of families and separated many children from their parents over the years. The region has seen countless abductions, with children often taken during raids on villages and communities.

Anyone with information about the family or who recognizes Kabiru has been urged to contact the following number: 08032398985. As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the discovery, and it remains unclear whether the boy has been reunited with his family. The case underscores the lasting human toll of banditry in the North-West, where many families remain shattered by years of violence, displacement, and uncertainty.
