The Nigeria Police Force has officially flagged off the "Know Your Number" Campaign in Kwara State, a health initiative aimed at combating preventable medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and prostate cancer that have been responsible for cases of sudden collapse and death among personnel. The campaign was launched on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, by the Director of the Force Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Ifeoma Eze, at the Kwara State Police Command headquarters in Ilorin.

The campaign forms part of the welfare-focused vision of the Inspector‑General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to promote a healthier and more resilient workforce capable of effectively discharging its constitutional responsibilities to the nation. Addressing officers and men of the Command during a series of health sensitisation lectures, AIG Nkechi Ifeoma Eze highlighted the dangers posed by undetected hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer, and other silent health conditions. She emphasised that regular medical screening and early detection remain critical to preventing avoidable health complications and preserving lives.

According to the AIG, the "Know Your Number" Campaign is designed to encourage personnel to routinely monitor key health indicators, embrace preventive healthcare practices, and seek timely medical intervention where necessary. She noted that maintaining good health is not only essential for personal wellbeing but also fundamental to effective policing and public service delivery. As part of the programme, medical teams conducted free health screenings for officers and men of the Command, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and other basic medical checks.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, expressed appreciation to the Inspector‑General of Police and the Force Medical Director for extending the initiative to the Command and assured of the Command's continued support for programmes aimed at enhancing the welfare, wellbeing, and professional efficiency of police personnel. The "Know Your Number" campaign is expected to be replicated across other state commands as part of ongoing efforts to improve the health and operational effectiveness of police personnel nationwide. The Nigeria Police Force has urged its personnel to take advantage of the initiative and prioritise their health to ensure they remain fit for duty and capable of serving the nation effectively.
