The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has officially launched a new toll-free short-code hotline, 3367, marking a significant upgrade in how residents can report traffic emergencies, hold officials accountable, and contribute to a safer, more efficient transportation system across Nigeria's commercial capital. The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, and posted on X by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation.

The new 3367 platform replaces LASTMA's previous long-service code, offering a simpler, more accessible, and technologically advanced communication channel. Available at no cost to subscribers on MTN, Glo, and 9mobile (Etisalat/T2) networks, the hotline is designed to eliminate financial barriers that might discourage road users from reporting incidents. Motorists and other road users can now promptly report vehicle breakdowns, road traffic crashes, disabled articulated vehicles, stranded tankers, traffic obstructions, and any other emergencies requiring urgent intervention.

In a move aimed at strengthening transparency and professionalism within the agency, the platform also enables members of the public to report the conduct, professionalism, and operational activities of LASTMA personnel. To ensure wider accessibility and encourage greater public participation, callers can communicate with hotline operators in English, Yoruba, or Pidgin English, effectively eliminating language barriers during emergencies.

Speaking on the initiative, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the launch as a monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient, and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State. He emphasised that the rapid growth and complexity of Lagos as a major African megacity demands a proactive, technology-enabled approach to traffic management. "The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline provides residents with a direct, convenient, and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported," Bakare-Oki said.

He assured residents that all reports received through the platform would be handled professionally, confidentially, and diligently before being forwarded to the appropriate operational units for prompt action. Bakare-Oki urged the public to make effective use of the hotline to support road safety, improve accountability, and contribute to a more efficient and sustainable transportation system across the state.

The introduction of the 3367 toll-free hotline is expected to enhance communication between the motoring public and LASTMA while supporting faster emergency response and more efficient traffic management throughout Lagos State. It represents a significant step towards building a more responsive, technology-driven, and citizen-focused traffic management system in Africa's most populous city.
