The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property, and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando area of the state, as part of the ongoing Operation KO S'AYE. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, 5 July 2026, targeted black spots including Boolar and Okofilling Bus Stop along the Area M, Idimu axis, following credible intelligence that identified the locations as hubs for criminal activities. The raid, which involved a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the command, was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising residents in the area.

According to a press release issued on Monday, 6 July 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operation commenced at approximately 5:45 a.m. and resulted in the apprehension of 150 suspects. Exhibits recovered during the raid included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and various quantities of illicit drugs.

The arrest of 150 suspects and the recovery of 100 unregistered motorcycles represent a significant blow to criminal networks operating in the area, particularly those involved in the illegal use of motorcycles for criminal activities. The recovery of firearms, including locally made guns, and military camouflage uniforms raises concerns about the potential for more serious criminal operations, including armed robbery and other violent crimes. The recovery of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs underscores the link between drug abuse and crime, a challenge that security agencies have been grappling with across the country.

The operation is part of the Lagos State Police Command's sustained enforcement of Operation KO S'AYE, an initiative launched to combat crime and ensure that there is no safe haven for criminals across the state. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty, reaffirming the Command's commitment to the continued implementation of the operation. CP Fatai stressed that the operation will be sustained across the state to deny criminals any safe haven and ensure the safety and security of all residents, while also urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will assist the police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders, and enhancing public safety.

The Commissioner of Police also encouraged the public to utilise the Command's emergency and information channels, which include 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, 08080193432 (Marine), and 09168630929, to report suspicious activities. The command has assured that all information received would be treated with utmost confidentiality. All suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability. Those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly.

The raid in Igando is the latest in a series of successful operations by the Lagos State Police Command under Operation KO S'AYE, which has been credited with reducing crime rates in several parts of the state. The operation has also led to the recovery of stolen property and the apprehension of suspects wanted for various offences. As the command continues its aggressive clearance operations, the message to criminals is clear: Lagos State is not a safe haven for lawlessness, and the police are determined to ensure that residents can live and work in peace.
