Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa, a businessman, entrepreneur, and newly called legal practitioner, has urged Nigerians, especially the youth, never to abandon their dreams, declaring that faith in God, discipline, and perseverance can overcome even decades of delay. Ohuabunwa made this appeal in a statement issued ahead of his formal Call to the Nigerian Bar on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, where he reflected on his over 40-year journey to becoming a lawyer—a journey marked by repeated rejections, unwavering faith, and eventual triumph.

Ohuabunwa, who is also the Chairman of the Association of Licensed Set Top Box Manufacturers of Nigeria (STBMAN), described his personal experience as clear evidence that delays should never be mistaken for denial. "There is no dream that God cannot bring to pass. No matter how long it takes, if you remain faithful, disciplined and committed, God will accomplish His purpose for your life," he said.

Recalling his journey, Ohuabunwa explained that after completing secondary school in the mid-1980s, he repeatedly sought admission to study Law but was unsuccessful despite obtaining scores that ordinarily qualified him for the programme. "Rather than abandon my ambition, I enrolled in different qualifying programmes, including IJMB and remedial studies, before eventually gaining admission to study English Language and Literature at the University of Maiduguri after Law remained out of reach," he stressed. "I could have concluded that it was not meant to be, but I refused to bury the dream. I believed that God's plan was greater than my disappointment, and I continued to prepare myself for the day the opportunity would come," he stated.

According to the statement, although Ohuabunwa built a successful career as an entrepreneur and attained several academic and professional milestones over the years, his desire to become a lawyer never faded. The opportunity eventually came during the COVID-19 pandemic when he enrolled to study Law, excelled academically, and later proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, where he completed the professional training required to qualify as a legal practitioner. He was formally called to the Nigerian Bar on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, more than four decades after he first began pursuing the dream.

Ohuabunwa attributed the fulfillment of his lifelong ambition not only to determination but, above all, to God's grace, noting that his decision to dedicate his life to Christ in 1995 transformed his perspective and strengthened his resolve to persevere through life's challenges. "My life is a testimony that with God, nothing is impossible. There were seasons of disappointment and waiting, but every delay was preparing me for God's appointed time," he said.

The new legal practitioner urged young Nigerians and others facing repeated setbacks not to lose hope because of temporary failures or closed doors, stressing that present circumstances do not determine a person's future. "Do not allow rejection to define you. Do not allow delay to destroy your faith. Keep believing, keep working, keep praying and keep preparing. When God's time comes, no force on earth can stop what He has ordained for you," he added.

Ohuabunwa, who is also a Harvard alumnus, expressed gratitude to God, his family, mentors, and everyone who stood by him throughout the journey, saying his Call to the Nigerian Bar is not merely a personal achievement but a testimony intended to inspire others to trust God, remain steadfast, and never stop pursuing the dreams He has placed in their hearts.

His remarkable story has been described as an inspiring example of resilience, faith, and lifelong learning. As the youngest of twelve children, Ohuabunwa had made an unusual declaration at an early age: he would become the family's lawyer. That childhood vision, which refused to fade despite repeated disappointments and countless obstacles, finally became a reality on July 7, 2026. His journey sends a timeless message to everyone confronting setbacks, rejection, or deferred aspirations: dreams do not have an expiry date.
