A popular furniture maker, widely known by his nickname “No Time,” has been kidnapped while returning to Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as he was travelling from Eruku in Kwara State to Egbe, Kogi State.
According to information gathered by community sources, the victim was ambushed along the route, a stretch of road that has become notorious for criminal activities. The circumstances surrounding the abduction remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from security agencies as of the time of filing this report. The abduction has sparked fresh concerns among residents, who fear a resurgence of insecurity along the route. Community members say this is the first reported kidnapping incident in recent weeks, raising anxiety over the safety of commuters and residents.
The Eruku-Egbe road has long been a terror zone. The House of Representatives previously noted that the deplorable state of the Ajase-Ipo-Omu-Aran-Eruku-Egbe-Kabba road provides an enabling environment for armed robbers and kidnappers to waylay and subject thousands of road users to untold hardship, including untimely death. In November 2025, 38 worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku were abducted, an incident that triggered nationwide outrage. In March 2026, gunmen attacked motorists along the same road, forcing vehicles to stop and passengers to flee. The area has been a hotspot for kidnappings targeting travellers and locals, heightening fear among residents.
Residents have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victim and strengthen security patrols along the Eruku–Egbe corridor to prevent further attacks. The kidnapping comes amid a series of violent incidents in the region. In early July 2026, a Kogi father faced a grim ₦200 million deadline as bandits held his two children hostage. In June 2026, terrorists invaded a residence in Egbe, abducting a woman, her infant child, and three other members of a family. The Nigerian Army has conducted rescue operations in the area, successfully rescuing a mother and her baby, but the remaining victims in some cases are still being held.
The kidnapping of “No Time” underscores the persistent security challenges facing the region. As the community awaits official confirmation and action from security agencies, the hope remains that the victim will be safely rescued and that the authorities will take decisive steps to secure the Eruku-Egbe corridor once and for all.
