The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued a final warning to thousands of candidates who have been sitting on admission offers from the past six years: accept or reject your pending admission before August 31, 2026, or risk losing the opportunity forever. The directive, announced on the board's official X account, has sent waves of urgency through the academic community, as candidates who have left offers unresolved since 2020 now face a hard deadline that could determine their educational future.

According to JAMB, the deadline applies to candidates with pending admission offers from the 2020 to 2025 admission cycles. The board urged affected candidates to log into their JAMB profiles and access the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to check whether they have an offer awaiting their decision. Those who wish to proceed with an admission are expected to select the acceptance option, while candidates who do not intend to take up an offer should reject it through the platform. "JAMB has warned candidates with pending previous admission offers to accept/reject them before August 31, 2026, to avoid possible forfeiture," the board stated.

The directive is particularly significant for candidates from the 2020–2025 admission cycles whose previous offers remain unresolved. Many of these candidates may have moved on, changed plans, or simply forgotten about old offers. The new JAMB Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, is spearheading a push to clean up long-standing backlogs in the system. In his first week alone, his #JCare initiative resolved over 5,000 pending candidate complaints, signalling a new era of efficiency and accountability at the board.

Candidates with outstanding offers are required to log into efacility.jamb.gov.ng with their JAMB registration number, check their admission status, and access CAPS to respond to any pending offers. The response can also be submitted via SMS by sending ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019. However, once a candidate accepts an offer, the decision is final and cannot be reversed. The board advised affected candidates not to wait until the deadline but to complete the required action as soon as possible.

Candidates who fail to act within the stipulated period could risk losing the opportunity attached to their pending admission offers. The forfeiture is permanent once August 31 passes, and the offer will no longer be available. This warning is particularly relevant to candidates who may have left previous offers unresolved, perhaps because plans changed or they simply forgot. The board urged candidates to check their profiles and take the necessary action before the deadline.

For candidates who have been waiting for years, the August 31 deadline represents both a final chance and a moment of truth. The clock is ticking, and the decision to accept or reject an offer could shape the course of their academic and professional lives. As the board has made clear, doing nothing is no longer an option.
