Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has affirmed his administration’s commitment to developing Akure into a befitting state capital capable of rivaling any city in Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday, September 10, 2025, during the flag-off of 32 units of four-bedroom terraced residential buildings for members of the State Executive Council, the governor said the ongoing urban renewal in the Alagbaka area is just the beginning of broader plans to modernize the city.
Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted that major road projects, including Ijoka Road and the Irese flyover, will be expedited alongside other planned infrastructure developments. The new residential estate, he explained, addresses the longstanding shortage of secure government housing for top officials.
“This project provides modern, well-planned buildings with amenities ensuring both comfort and security for our cabinet members,” he said. The estate includes 28 houses in five clusters and four stand-alone homes, featuring a gatehouse and dedicated maintenance block.
The governor also announced plans for an affordable housing scheme for civil servants, stressing his administration’s focus on welfare and infrastructure through the developmental agenda, OUR EASE.
Key government and traditional leaders, including Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, attended the ceremony and lauded the initiative.
