Nigeria’s track sensation, Tobi Amusan, added another glorious chapter to her sporting career by winning the silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Amusan clocked a stunning 12.29 seconds in the final, finishing just behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who claimed gold with a new national record of 12.24 seconds.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) lauded Amusan’s performance, highlighting her unwavering consistency, determination, and ability to thrive under pressure. Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC, praised her world-class talent, describing her as “a symbol of hope, resilience, and excellence for Nigeria,” and emphasized that her achievement continues to inspire millions across the nation.

The podium was completed by the USA’s Grace Stark, who took bronze with 12.34 seconds, while fellow American Masai Russell finished fourth in 12.44 seconds.

Amusan’s journey to the final was marked by a commanding semifinal performance, where she clocked 12.36 seconds, outpacing Nadine Visser of the Netherlands (12.45s) and Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland (12.51s). Her dominant semifinal run set the tone for her remarkable final performance, reaffirming her status as one of the world’s leading hurdlers.
