Three young men from Plateau State were reportedly abducted by suspected gunmen in Kogi State while returning from a business trip to Akure, Ondo State. The victims, identified as Kweti Jonathan Menje, Habila Sunday and Samuel, all residents of the Jenta Adamu community in Jos North Local Government Area, were intercepted on Monday, 1 June 2026, on a highway in Kogi State.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Jenta Adamu Central Youth Council, the commercial vehicle in which the victims were travelling was intercepted by armed men who forcefully took them to an unknown destination. The kidnappers have since contacted the families and are demanding ₦10 million for each victim, totalling ₦30 million, and have warned that the youths will be killed if the ransom is not paid within a specified deadline.
“The Jenta Adamu Central Youth Council wishes to inform the general public and security agencies of the unfortunate abduction of three of our vibrant youth: Kweti Jonathan Menje, Habila Sunday, and Samuel,” the statement read. “The victims, who are residents of the Jenta Adamu community in Jos North LGA, were traveling back to Jos from Akure, Ondo State, after a business trip when the commercial vehicle they were travelling in was intercepted by armed men in Kogi State on Monday. The gunmen forcefully took them to an unknown destination.”
The youth council added that they had verified the accounts with the families of the victims and appealed to the federal government, the governments of Plateau and Kogi states, and security agencies to intervene urgently to secure the safe release of the young men. They also called on the public to provide any useful information that could assist security operatives in their rescue efforts.
“We have verified these accounts from the direct families of the victims and are using this medium to appeal passionately to the federal government, the governments of Plateau and Kogi states, as well as all relevant security agencies, to swiftly intervene and secure the safe release of our brothers,” the statement added.
As of the time of this report, official spokespersons for the Kogi State Police Command and other security agencies had not reacted to the incident.
