The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued an alert regarding the circulation of counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets in Nigeria.
According to Chi Pharmaceutical Ltd, the Marketing Authorisation Holder (MAH) for Cialis 20mg film-coated tablets (NRN: 04-5196), routine market surveillance in Abuja uncovered counterfeit packs being openly sold. The fake tablets are reportedly sold at an average price of ₦8,000 per pack, significantly lower than the genuine product, which retails at approximately ₦55,000 per pack.
Investigations revealed that the counterfeit product does not match authentic Cialis packaging or quality standards. Genuine Cialis 20mg contains tadalafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
NAFDAC urges healthcare professionals and consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspected sale of substandard or falsified medicines. Reports can be made at the nearest NAFDAC office, via the toll-free line 0800-162-3322, or by sending an email to sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
