Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force is set to mark a historic milestone as it celebrates 70 years of women serving in the Force. The landmark occasion underscores the courage, resilience, and dedication of female officers who have contributed immensely to law enforcement and public safety since the first women were enlisted in 1955.

The celebration, scheduled for 3rd to 4th December 2025, will bring together serving and retired female officers to honor their invaluable contributions to policing in Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the women for their professionalism and compassion, noting that their work has been integral to both operational effectiveness and building community trust. Over the decades, women in the Force have excelled in roles spanning administration, investigations, tactical operations, and leadership, consistently embodying integrity and excellence.

Events planned for the anniversary include a national lecture, historical exhibition, interactive panel discussions, and an outreach programme. The activities aim to celebrate achievements, promote inclusivity, and inspire the next generation of women in law enforcement.

The Nigeria Police Force also extended its gratitude to all female officers, past and present, emphasizing that their dedication continues to inspire the institution and the nation.

This announcement was made by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 29th October 2025, highlighting the Force’s commitment to inclusivity, professionalism, and recognition of women’s contributions in policing.
