A Plateau State clergyman, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, has publicly pronounced a curse on former presidential aide Reno Omokri after the latter dismissed claims of a targeted killing of Christians in parts of Nigeria. Speaking with fierce emotion, Reverend Dachomo said Omokri’s denial crossed a line and pledged that the commentator would not find peace unless he repented.
Dachomo told congregants and supporters that the blood of victims weighed on him and that he had invoked divine retribution against anyone who sought to downplay the violence. He accused Omokri of living a dubious life under successive administrations and warned that without repentance “he will not escape” the consequences, urging the public to take the warning seriously.
The pastor’s remarks reflect the deep anger and grief in communities that say they have been repeatedly attacked, and they highlight how commentary on sensitive security issues continues to inflame tensions. Critics of Dachomo’s language argue that invoking curses against opponents risks escalating sectarian feelings, while supporters say his words express the raw pain of victims’ families who feel ignored.
Reno Omokri has not issued an immediate response to the pastor’s statements. The exchange underscores how debates about violence and accountability in Nigeria remain highly charged, with religious leaders, activists and commentators trading sharp accusations as the country grapples with ongoing insecurity.
